A Cold, Wet n Windy 20!!

Well Sunday was an early rise for a few 88's and a drive up to Colchester for the Essex 20 miler road race.
The weather was officially crap but these few hard brave souls weren't gonna let that stop them from running!

The 88's team consisted of Nigel, SuperJen, Sam R, Timi, Caroline Tuck, Jackie, Mel, Alan, Bob, Ian & Caroline.

As normal a pre race picture was taken but this time we had an intruder!! A BRR, apparently his name is Dennis (the Menace) Seems we have a good relationship with the BRR team :-)

So me and my dad positioned ourself on a hill to take the video of the start, its hard trying to take individual shots at the beginning cause the runners are too close and you cant see sod all lol

So after everyone had passed we made our way to our next stop for the next two laps and ready to catch any running gear they wanted to discard :-) hopefully put it on ebay later. First to unload was Caroline T with her shirt, its ok she had her vest on so she wasnt running topless lol

Next up was BRR Super Vicky Cooper chucking me her Garmin as it had run out of charge!

Looks like this is my future job when not running! lol I love it really, at least its nice to be needed :-)

Pit stops followed for a couple of runners on lap one to the toilet (piss stop) and to put a long sleeve shirt on!! and a few other runners seemed in good spirits, Alan was singing and dancing his way round :-)

and Mel was looking a bit soggy

So come the final lap and the finish Sam R came home first!! hang on where's Nigel?? apparently he was passed at the 15 mile mark by Sam, which is the first time i haven't seen Nigel be the first 88 home, so well done Sam :-)

First home for the ladies was the ever speedy Caroline Tuck who won her Age Group FV45 Essex  Champion :-) well done Caroline we are extremely proud of you x

All the 88's had great runs with some taking it as a training run getting ready for the London Marathon.

This picture says it all for D88 Spirit, love running and enjoy it folks and from now on each race i want to see a great celebration at the finish :-)

Lastly i'm gonna be serious for a moment and want to say a Big Well done to BRR's Vicky Cooper, she was a little bit hard on herself after the run even though she had done a great time!! but cheered up when she heard official result the next day.

Vicky your a star, always encouraging people, me included (or is that telling me off lol i love it really), I could only dream of times you are doing, and for sure you will do a great time at the London Marathon and we the 88's will be there cheering you on somewhere along the route (just remember a orange headband lol)

Don't overdo it, your training is going nicely but rest is just as important!!

Here's Vicky showing us she can do it with her eyes shut!

Till next time folks

Keep running, enjoy it and be safe x

Back to silly mode :-) lol
