Well where do i start?? What a weekend!! and for a whole post i think im going to be serious, coz i cant think of anything to take the piss out of lol
Saturday was Parkrun :-) I was tail running bringing home the last place runner! slowest 5k ive ever done but my other 88's were doing there best to get a pb.
Two 88's ladies took the honours this week :-)
Sandra Worley in 32:24 & Julie Wilkins 32:53
Also running good times were Timi, Anne, Julie D, Kate, Sam V, David G and his wife Sandra on her first Parkrun :-) Well done all
ok so i aint always serious lol
Next up and Sunday was the Silverstone Half Marathon, an early coach pick up at 6.30am!!, the coach was nearly full and buzzing with excitement :-) for runners and baggage handlers.
All the Runners
It was a scorching hot day, with a race start of 12 noon!!, a lot of runners were caught out by the weather, being overdressed, without there running caps and shades and not drinking enough.
First home for the 88's was Sam R in 69th!! in 1:25:41
Next was the ever impressive Caroline T who was the 17th lady finisher and 2nd in her age category :-) in 1:33:28 What a CHAMP (ps girl in blue to to the right is chucking up lol)
Sam Monk came in 29th lady with a super time of 1:38:01, followed by Roy in 1:39:33, next up was me putting in a good time :-) well actually Steve Ray running as me but i'll take anything lol. Steve got a pb of 1:41:44, followed by Malcolm returning from a long illness lay off in 1:56:04
Next to finish was little miss superfit and D88 Hottie Tottie Laura :-) in 2:06:57 a superb time and nothing to be to down over!! so a big well done x A surprise finisher was Sallyanne!! oops sorry mean Bob R who took her place in 2:08:38, Mick getting a new half pb in 2 weeks in 2:11:10, well done me ol muckka , Keith in 2:11:12 and Jackie in 2:13:15
By now lots of runners where suffering on the course because of the Heat!!!!
Next home was the ever speedy Timi in 2:17:05, how she goes so fast i dont know but she was suffering, but still finished :-) Well Done mate you were superb xx
Next up was Wendy with a great run and time of 2:20:53 and a bit emotional at the finish, it gets ya like that sometimes but aint it great :-) (Wendy in pink top)
Anne was close on her friends heels and happy with her time of 2:22:47 and proud of her medal :-)
Tracey G then came home in a good time and great performance of 2:23:46, Tony in 3:00:09, Lee in 3:14:52 (obviously no short cuts or just a bad run lol)
The one we had all been waiting for was our super club captain, inspiration and superstar
KAREN CRIGHTON
in a time of 2:57:54 :-)
Karen was a bit upset and emotional at the finish but all the 88's gathered round to pick her up :-)
You done great Karen, don't be hard on yourself, sometimes conditions can affect times and times are sometimes unachievable , what does count is that YOU FINISH and you did :-)
WE ARE ALL VERY PROUD
Its the 2nd week ive spoken to a runner who is a bit down with their performance!! the lesson here is don't be!! every run can't and won't be a great one, but you take it on board until the next run.
Also another point i would like to make is STAY HYDRATED!! this is so important, even when you don't think you need water, this is the time you do need it, so TAKE IT, sip some and in incredibly hot conditions pour some down the back of your head and neck. Do not pour over front of head as sweat will get in your eyes and it stings like hell.
Second point is always take kit for all weathers, gloves, hat shades etc... and please people make it a white running cap as this deflects heat away from your head rather than black which absorbs heat!!
Here end this weeks lessons.
Well done again to all runners & baggage volunteers
It was a friggin awesome day :-)
YOU ARE ALL HEROES
Now can i please go back to being less serious :-)
Here's our Champ Caroline Tuck with her new ruby slippers, now we know how she gets round so fast :-)
I just could'nt resist :-)
Till next time folks xxx
