Inspiration

Inspiration - Where and who do you get yours from?

Well here's my top 3 what i call normal human beings lol and they probably never knew they inspire me until now :-) A top 3 elite athlete inspirations will follow......

Whilst learning to run 2010, i bought a copy of Runners World, in this edition was a story of Kim Cotton (Le Grys) Her story just grabbed me and i was hooked and inspired. Her attitude and determination to lose weight, change her life around and run marathons made me feel i could acheive great things too. I looked her up on Facebook and have followed her journey ever since.

Here's a link to an old Interview Kim done a while back but gives you a great idea why i found her inspirational :-)

So Kim thank you, you were the first person to inspire and push me on in my journey.

Also at this time I was getting into Triathlon and would go to the London Triathlon every year cheering and watch in awe these super triathlete's. It was on a Saturday when i saw someone running in a Team Dillon tri-suit and when i got home googled Team Dillon. I then found out that this team was run by GB Olympian Michelle Dillon. On the website were a few names which i again googled to find out more. Of course alot of the names i knew were coached by Michelle, but there were also a few age groupers. One of these age groupers was Ruth Pogonowski, i googled her to find out more and came across a site called Fat2fit. Again it was a great story of how Ruth had changed her life around and went on the represent Great Britain at the Triathlon Age Group World Championships in Budapest in 2010. Wow another great story and someone else that inspired me on my journey again, again looking Ruth up on Facebook to keep up to date with her journey.

You can still see Ruth's testimonial on the Fat2fit website http://www.fat2fit.me.uk/?page_id=34
and her profile on the Team Dillon Coaching website http://www.teamdilloncoaching.com/tdc_athletes/ruth-pogonowski/

Ruth messaged me this week asking about Dagenham 88 Sessions and will be joining us this Tuesday 27th March for the Club Run. Please give her a very big welcome and hopefully she will be back on top form and running in a Daggers vest soon :-) Look forward to seeing you soon Ruth x

Lastly but not least is our club captain Karen Crighton, she epitomises everything i am trying to achieve. Although i've only known her since June 2011, her determination, courage and heart inspire me, she has lost so much weight since her journey begun and achieved some amazing goals. Last year she run the Beachy Head Marathon and every time i watch her video of the day it brings tears to my eyes. (knew i shouldn't have just watched it again!!)

You can watch her video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9cd2I0F6t4

So a BIG thank you to Kim, Ruth & Karen xxx
