Summer Running Happened So Fast!!

Well here we are after another weekend of D88 running.

This week summer arrived early and all the 88's were out in there shorts and vests and some even less!

First up on Saturday was Valentines Parkrun where only 3 88's took part, everyone obviously suffering from the party the previous week! First in for 88's just short of her pb was Anne D, followed by an improved performance of late from Sam V and either running backwards or tail running was Julie D!!!

Next up was the Cavalry Charge Enactment otherwise known as the National Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill.

An 8k run for the ladies, Amanda, Timi, Caroline C, Caroline T, and a 12k run for the men, Ian, Sam, Gary, Rob. On a very hilly and challenging course some 88's after the race were complaining of stiff legs, being pooped and letting rip on the train home!! Normal behaviour there then? Apparently its the first time the D88s have fielded a full ladies team at this event proving that we are becoming even more stupid and led astray by bad influences although Jenny can't be blamed this time!! The ladies Team placed 71st out of 73, making a change that we weren't last. First home was Flyer Tuck in place 301st in 37mins 10secs, followed by Ultra Mandy (who has sort of had enough of Ultra at the mo, but i get the feeling she will be back very soon) in 571st followed by Caroline "Knacker Cracker" Perry-Cummins :-) in 611th and bringing the Team home the little pocket rocket Timi in 635th place. The mens Team didn't have a full squad of nutters out, but Sam R came home first in 1159th place in 53mins 36secs, followed by Mr Knacker Cracker Ian Cummins in 1392nd, Gary "Ol Father Time" Cardnell in 1490th, and Rob in 1548th.

Finally on Sunday the 88's took Chigwell by storm at the Roding Valley Half Marathon with a strong team of Ian, Caroline C, Caroline T, Timi, Sam R taking part in the 2nd event in 2 days!! Total madness but thats how the D88's roll or run!! Completing the team were Nigel, Jenny, Sam, Mick, Jackie, Mel, Chris, Dan, Karen and Tracey.

There were special appearances for the D88's by the real David Hasselhoff this time, none of this pumped up suit lark and Zippy & George from Rainbow :-)

The Real Hoff :-)

Oops Sorry it was Crighton & George, not Zippy lol

Some great performances by the 88's, Nigel in 20th position just outside his pb, our SuperJen shaved 5secs off her pb, Mick completed his first half in 2hrs 12mins, Timi smashing her previous pb at the distance by over 16mins!!! (drug testers will be knocking soon if performances carry on like this!!) Chris D decided to do the race a bit different and start at the back and work his way through the feild!! Mr Cummins paced Mrs Cummins round for a change and there were consistent perfomances by Caroline T, Dan M, Jackie F and Mel E. Bringing up the rears for the 88s (and a nice pair of rears they are too) were Tracey George show boating and skipping round the hurdles closely followed on her heels by Karen Crighton.

Later three of the D88 ladies made a shock announcement that they were retiring from running and taking up Shot Put and hoping to make the GB Olympic Team, so went straight into training!! Here's Timi explaining that to beat the Russian Shot Putters the girls need to put on 20 stone each!!!

Till next time folks :-) x
