New Blog Beginnings

Well here i am back to blogging, i started originally a couple of years back to get me started, focused and determined to achieve my goal to lose weight. Along the way my dream was to take part in a triathlon which i have now done a few but my main aim was to take part in the London Triathlon. A dream inspired by my heroes, Jodie Stimpson, Chrissie Wellington, Helen Jenkins, Jodie Swallow, Michelle Dillon, Tim Don, Stuart Hayes,  and of course Ali and Johnny Brownlee. Who would have thought just by watching the London Triathlon in 2007 would spur me on to one day take part!! Dreams do come true and its up to you and only you to make them come true.

My dream came true in 2011 when i took part in the London Triathlon which was only my 2nd open water triathlon. To be congratulated the next day by female champion Jodie Stimpson is one memory i will always treasure :-)

There has been many lows, frustrations, illnesses, injuries and mental battles along the way but also many highs which out weigh all the lows. I have to keep reminding myself of what i have achieved from where i used to be, overweight and at nearly 17 stone.

2011 was a strange year with many highs and lows but one of the highs was joining the Dagenham 88 Runners. Like most people i was a bit daunted by the task of joining a running club and thought i would be left behind but found there were all types of runners in the club from walking pace to speedy buggers. Im somewhere in the middle lol. I have been lucky to meet a great bunch of people who all encourage and support each other :-)

My first running buddy and out of action for a bit as she has eaten too many hot dogs!!! Oops mean she is preggers and was probably eating for 2!!

Sally is always a laugh and great fun and i love her to bits, to be honest im a bit glad she has to take it easy now as she was gonna beat my arse in a race shortly lol. Nadine, my other running buddy has got better each week and will soon be beating me too, but she needs to learn the art of snot rocketing :-) other great people who i enjoy running with are Julie & Sian (who needs her arse kicking at times lol) , Julie C, Karen C, Jo Barker, Mick P (who is back from injury and flying), Mr & Mrs H, Timi and Sam. This list could go on and on and on and funny stories will appear as and when. Also thanks to the speedy end of the group, Alan P, Steve R (who never seems to sleep and is always down fitness first, golf, playing Words with friends or snowboarding!!!) , Gary C (who is a joker) but always offering support and advice and then the posh and becks of our club, the club champs them selves Jenny (SuperJen) and Nigel (Big Guns). Always up for a laugh and good time and will never be beaten at anything, drinking, eating,  singing, dancing (well think this is more Jenny than Nigel lol)

Anyway think this will do for my first post more updates from races, my future planned races, challenges and stories from the weird and wonderful world that is D88R :-)

Steve xxx
